Big Picture Overview of the ACT
The ACT can be given either with or without writing
With Writing: Duration: 3 hour 35 minute test
The ACT with writing consists of five sections:
English: 75 questions, 45 minutes (Includes: Usage/Mechanics – Punctuation, Grammar and Usage, Sentence Structure Rhetorical Skills – Strategy, Organization, Style)
Math: 60 questions, 60 minutes (Covers: Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plane Geometry, Trigonometry)
Reading: 40 questions, 45 minutes (Covers: Prose Fiction, Humanities, Social Studies, Natural Sciences)
Science: 40 questions, 35 minutes (Covers: Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, Physics)
Writing: 1 essay, 40 minutes
Without Writing: Duration: 2 hour 55 minutes
The ACT without writing consists of all of the sections above except writing.
All ACT Prep is customized. A practice test is required before test prep begins. EDNavigators only gives true retired practice tests and provides a thorough overview of each section of the test when giving practice tests. After the practice test, EDNavigators provides and analyzes the diagnostic results and makes a recommendation on how many one-on-one sessions to schedule. A typical student meets for five sessions, but many students/families choose to meet more.
